Internet Hut (2016)

12”x18” Oil on canvas

Despite popular conception, the internet is a very physical structure. And in remote places, the infrastrcture of technology becomes much more apparent. This 20 foot structure sits in a region of Ireland, known as the Burren. It is a very distinct area within Ireland as it is covered with limestone. It is home to ancient dolmens, artifacts, and its residence have an intense ethic of conservation. As it stands now, this monumental internet modem is grey, designed to blend into the landscape and rock formations. Internet Hut represents the structure as though its makers embraced the crudeness of its form, and embraced the evolotuion of technology within an ancient landscape.
